The Sukhvir Sanghal Art Foundation, a cultural initiative of Kala Bharti Trust, is dedicated to preserving, documenting and advancing the artistic, educational and intellectual legacy of Prof. Sukhvir Sanghal (1914–2006).
The Foundation was established to preserve, document and promote the artistic legacy of Prof. Sukhvir Sanghal. Inspired by his lifelong commitment to Indian art, education and cultural thought, the Foundation serves as a centre for exhibitions, research, publications, conservation, digital archiving and public engagement.
Through these initiatives, it seeks to ensure that his artistic vision, philosophy and pioneering contributions to Indian wash painting continue to inspire artists, scholars, students and future generations.

Priyam Chandra undertook the initiative to preserve, document, and revive the artistic legacy of Prof. Sukhvir Sanghal. After a successful international career in technology, including professional engagements with American Express, Comcast, and IBM in the United States and India, she chose to leave the corporate world to dedicate herself entirely to the preservation and promotion of her grandfather’s artistic legacy.
Driven by a deep commitment to Indian art and cultural heritage, she has played a significant role in reintroducing Prof. Sukhvir Sanghal’s works and philosophy to contemporary audiences through exhibitions, publications, retrospectives, workshops, archival initiatives, and cultural collaborations. Her efforts include curating solo exhibitions at institutions such as Lalit Kala Akademi and India International Centre, publishing the restored manuscript Evolution of Art and Artist – Volume I, organizing wash painting workshops and retrospective exhibitions, and developing the official digital archive and website dedicated to the artist.
Priyam holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from USA. Her work today focuses on creating awareness about India’s hidden artistic heritage while ensuring the continued preservation and presentation of Prof. Sukhvir Sanghal’s oeuvre for future generations.
Rajesh Chandra Jaiswal served with Punjab National Bank for four decades and retired as a Chief Manager. He is the son-in-law of Prof. Sukhvir Sanghal and has been actively associated with preserving and promoting the artist’s legacy for many years. Post-retirement, he continues to contribute towards the documentation, care, and presentation of Sukhvir Sanghal’s paintings and artistic heritage. Alongside his cultural efforts, he remains deeply committed to social and environmental causes through tree plantation drives, youth motivation initiatives, and yoga sessions focused on holistic well-being and healing.
